  There is very little sand at all on Tenerife: it is a volcanic island and is mostly volcanic ash or cinders along the coastal path with outcrops of rocks or pebbles going down to the sea (for instance Pebble Beach . . . ). Having said that many people sunbathe on the rocks and children often play on the pebbles though sandy it is not -- sand has to be imported from the Sarah desert to make beaches on Tenerife!! Los Gigantes is one of those places . . . The Spanish economy is collapsing and properties are unsaleable because they are unlettable because owners of properties on Ternerife and Mallorca cannot let their properties without bureaucracy and expense having to be licensed to provide holiday accommodation. The imposition of bureaucracy and opressive taxation kills free enterprise and the economy.
