This is the
smaller of our two Rome apartments rentals and every effort has been made to make
it comfortable and pleasant. It looks out across the garden,
the pool and valley to the medieval hill town of Castelnuovo di
Porto. Whilst being out of town the location is a mere 28km north of
the historic centre of Rome, " the Eternal City".
Should
you tire of touring the sites of rome, diving into the pool or lounging on the panoramic terrace
(see photos!), you might consider a secluded game of boules in the shade
of the fig tree overlooking the valley, not to
mention the many other activities and sites of historic interest in the
immediate vicinity of the accommodation - even a round of golf at the nearby
course.
The
Remus apartment has one double bedroom. There is a sitting room, kitchen and bathroom with
bath/shower.
The furnishings are of good quality, tv, radio, washing machine, There is a patio in front of the apartment for eating or barbecues "al fresco".
The
pool-side terrace with view is also sometimes used for evening meals.
Have a look at the picture page.

The village of Castelnuovo
is the typical medieval hill-top
"settlement" in the rome hills. It offers visitors the
opportunity to step into the past and enjoy the fascination of the
ages along winding cobbled streets with
their variety of doorways, arches, flower pots and unexpected views.
All amenities are available and a market is held on Tuesdays. Eating out is simply a question of choosing from several pizzerias, trattorias and restaurants in the area. Castelnuovo boasts the best fresh ice-cream parlour for miles, complete with super views right over to the Sabine hills!
The Golf course "Arco di Costantino" is only 15mins from the property. It has both an 18 hole course and a 9 hole for non handicap players . Another two courses are also within easy reach. Their web site is in Italian but don't let that distract you: there are some great graphics to show you the course lay out hole by hole.
The antiquities are an easy 35-45 minutes drive or train ride away. In
Rome, there is a very central underground car park, 'Villa Borghese', which allows you to walk out
directly to Piazza di Spagna and the Spanish steps or onto Via Veneto..
We will be more than happy to assist you with ideas of places to visit, Italy has much to offer beyond Rome itself. Florence, Perugia, Assisi, Pompeii etc are all within range for day trips (but you can rest assured that between Rome and the local area there is enough to see for a month of Sundays!) Motorway access is a 15min drive away and from there you simply choose to go north or south.
The Mediterranean coast, Tivoli, Villa dEste and Hadrians villa, as well as the lakes of Bracciano and Vico are all within one hours drive. In the more immediate vicinity there are also many places of artistic, historical and archeological interest such as the Roman town of Lucus Feroniae.
A car is necessary . The local train station is a couple of miles away (free parking), in the village. There are also bus services but they do not stop immediately by the villa. The train will be in Rome centre within about 45 minutes so you can easily get back for that last evening swim in the pool after a hot day touring the antiquities.
